DON CAMILLO & PEPPONE
DON CAMILLO & PEPPONE, made famous by the legendary film adaptations based on the novels ‘Il Mondo Piccolo’ by Giovannino Guareschi, found its way onto the musical stage in 2017. The VBW developed the world premiere of the stage version of this classic (director: Andreas Gergen) in co-production with the Theater St. Gallen and also presented the play for the first time in Austria at the Ronacher from 27 January 2017. The premiere took place in Switzerland on 30 April 2016.

DON CAMILLO & PEPPONE lovingly tells the story of the feisty Catholic priest Don Camillo and his no less powerful adversary Peppone as a cheerful, light-hearted musical. It promises a reunion with charming, much-loved characters. A cheerful story about rural Italy in the 1950s, social change, human interaction, tolerance and the power of reconciliation.
