Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (VBW), a Wien Holding company, stages top-class opera and musical productions in its four historic Viennese theatres - Raimund Theater, Ronacher, Theater an der Wien and Kammeroper. Every year, up to 600,000 people attend the performances in the four theatres, of which around 500,000 attend the long-run musical productions in the Raimund Theatre and Ronacher. This makes Vereinigte Bühnen Wien one of the largest multi-discipline theatre companies in Europe. 

In January 2006, the Theater an der Wien - previously a musical theatre - was reopened as the City of Vienna's new opera house and since then has presented itself as a year-round stage opera house that is unique in the German-speaking world. The programme includes operas from the Baroque to the modern era and offers opera audiences a new premiere every month at the highest artistic level. After two years of fundamental renovation, the opera house shines in new splendour in autumn 2024. Since the start of the 2012/13 season, the Theater an der Wien has also hosted the Wiener Kammeroper.

In the Raimund Theatre and Ronacher, far-sighted programming enables long-running musicals of the highest quality. A balanced mix of international world hits and VBW's own productions offers audiences a varied and impressive theatre experience every evening. The VBW attaches great importance to bringing European, German-language and Austrian premieres as well as new, self-developed musical material to the stage as world premieres. The musical performances in Vienna are always accompanied by the in-house orchestra, which currently consists of 80 musicians and has developed into an outstanding and unique ensemble in the musical sector. 

Thanks to the high quality of its musicals, VBW is highly regarded not only in Vienna but also internationally, making it one of the global players in international licensing. VBW has been marketing its own musical productions all over the world since 1996 and attracts around 1.4 million international visitors every year. Currently, over 30 million visitors in 24 countries and 18 languages worldwide, from France to Finland, Russia to Japan, Korea and China, have seen one of VBW's 10 in-house productions to date. With world-famous and popular musicals such as ELISABETH, MOZART!, DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES, REBECCA, RUDOLF or I AM FROM AUSTRIA, the ‘Viennese Musical’ has become an internationally renowned brand.
