On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES can finally be seen in Vienna again! At a press conference, the VBW’s Artistic Director of Musicals, Christian Struppeck, presented the new production, which has no fewer than three Counts von Krolock. Drew Sarich, Mark Seibert and Thomas Borchert will play the role at the Ronacher from 30 September 2017.

From World Premiere to Worldwide Cult Classic

The musical by Michael Kunze (book) and Jim Steinman (music) opened at the Raimund Theater on 4 October 1997, and within a very short time had enthralled audiences of 8.2 million worldwide. Based on the classic film by Roman Polanski, the original production was brilliantly directed by the master himself. Following huge public demand, the cult musical is now returning to Vienna, the city where it was first performed, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.

Vam-power at the Ronacher: Three Counts for Vienna

The cult musical has created a huge hype, not only amongst audiences but also around the auditions, where more 1,400 performers responded to the VBW’s casting call. The best of them can be seen every night at the Ronacher from autumn onwards.

The audience can look forward to three top stars in the role of Count von Krolock: Drew Sarich (EVITA, RUDOLF, SISTER ACT, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, LOVE NEVER DIES, etc.), Mark Seibert (SCHIKANEDER, MOZART!, ROMEO & JULIET, etc.) and Thomas Borchert  (EVITA, MOZART!, JEKYLL & HYDE etc.) are all returning to the VBW for this new production and will share the role between them.

The vampire killer Professor Abronsius is played by Sebastian Brandmeir (MOZART!, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, etc.), who has previously played the role in the Swiss version of the musical. Raphael Groß (GRIMM!, etc.) makes his VBW debut in the part of Abronsius’ assistant, Alfred – as does Diana Schnierer (HAIRSPRAY, FAME, etc.) as Sarah. Chagal is played by Nicolas Tenerani (SHREK, PETER PAN, SISTER ACT, etc.), and his wife Rebecca by Dawn Bullock (A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, etc.). Charles Kreische is Krolock‘s son, Herbert, Marle Martens (SCHIKANEDER, SISTER ACT, ROCKY, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, etc.) is Magda, and Florian Resetarits (MOZART!, CABARET, etc.)  plays Krolock’s assistant, Koukol.
