Theatre fans voted for their favourite productions from the period October 2018 to September 2019.

CATS, the international smash hit by Tim Rice und Andrew Lloyd Webber, opened the musical season at the VBW in September. From the moment advance bookings opened, ticket sales broke all previous records, and the sell-out show can currently be seen at the Ronacher every day except Mondays.

The first major concert performance of ELISABETH, a truly exceptional concert experience, took place in the famous historical ambience of Schönbrunn Palace forecourt on 5 and 6 July 2019, where it brought down the house.

The popular series of performances of the concert version of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR with a full orchestra continued in April of last year and was another sell-out highlight in the VBW’s programme of musicals.

Last year, the VBW productions I AM FROM AUSTRIA, DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES and BODYGUARD won awards in seven categories. This year the productions CATS, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and ELISABETH won no less than eight awards.

VBW Artistic Director Ronacher & Raimund Theater Christian Struppeck: “I would like to thank our audiences for showing their appreciation for our musicals and to congratulate everyone on the teams behind our productions of CATS, ELISABETH and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, as well as the winners in the individual categories. It is your faith in our choice of musicals and loyalty towards our productions which makes this kind of national and international success for our musicals possible.”
