SCHIKANEDER – The Turbulent Love Story Behind The Magic Flute, a romantic musical comedy about one of the 18th century’s most colourful theatrical couples, celebrates its world premiere on 30 September 2016. It continues the VBW’s tradition of creating new in-house productions – the autumn production of SCHIKANEDER will be the Raimund Theater’s twelfth world premiere musical. Today, artistic director Christian Struppeck will present the production and the main cast in the presence of composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz.

Behind the scenes of MOZART!
The rock star of the Rococo Era: MOZART! – The musical, written by the successful duo Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay, throws light onto the life of a phenomenal musician, historical figure and classical legend. Once again, returning to Vienna – where it all began!
MOZART! in Antwerp
On 9 November 2017 the Belgian cast of MOZART! gave a first insight into the production at the Paleis op de Meir in Antwerp. Ruben van Keer, who plays the role “Mozart”, presented his song “Ik ben muziek”. Ana Milva Gomes, who already played “Baronin von Waldstätten” in Vienna and will now play the role in Antwerp, sang the song “In het hart” together with the ensemble of the show. Grammy-Award winner and composer Sylvester Levay (music & arrangements MOZART!) accompanied the singers on the piano. Later on, the cast presented some of the gorgeous costumes of the show. The premiere is on 10 December 2017 at the Stadtschouwburg Antwerp. It is the first time that the production is shown in Belgium.
VBW Orchestra at the Vienna Jazz Festival
The Vereinigten Bühnen Wien Orchestra will be performing on the occasion of Frank Sinatra’s Centenary celebrations at the Vienna Jazz Festival in the Vienna State Opera!
